THE 2020 ANN ARBOR FILM FESTIVAL

INTERROGATING THE PAST: the collaborative work of Lisa Steele + Kim Tomczak

March 26, 2020

This program of two titles (The Afternoon Knows What the Morning Never Suspected, 2017, and The Blood Records: Written and Annotated, 1996) was presented as one of the juror screening sessions at the 2020 Ann Arbor Film Festival where Steele was one of three invited jurors. Rather than cancelling or postponing, the AAFF was one of the earliest festivals to go on-line, streaming each program in its original time-slot for audiences around the world. Jurying was done from links sent by the Festival organizers followed by Zoom calls between all three jurors, Steele, Osbert Parker, a London-based animator, and Lynne Sachs, a New York filmmaker with a deeply held feminist practice.
